Depending on how you use Solar Jobs Australia, we may collect:
Account and identity information

- authentication and verification information; and
- securely hashed password information.
Candidate information
- location;
- work rights information;
- employment preferences;
- availability;
- occupations and trades;
- qualifications;
- licences, tickets and certifications;
- CV and information contained within it;
- application notes;
- saved jobs;
- job-alert preferences;
- application history; and
- consent records.
Employer and recruiter information
We may collect:
- name;
- organisation;
- professional email address;
- telephone number;
- job title;
- recruiter contact information;
- job-listing information;
- employer enquiries; and
- correspondence.
Subscription information
We may process:
- subscription status;
- transaction identifiers;
- Stripe customer and subscription identifiers;
- payment status;
- billing events;
- cancellation information; and
- cancellation reasons where provided.
Full payment-card information is processed directly by our payment provider and is not intended to pass through or be stored by Solar Jobs Australia.
Technical information
We may process information reasonably necessary to operate and secure the service, including:
- IP address where generated through ordinary web infrastructure;
- browser and device information;
- URLs and pages requested;
- timestamps;
- session information;
- security logs;
- technical errors; and
- first-party usage events.
3. Why we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- create and administer accounts;
- operate candidate profiles;
- process CVs;
- provide job-search functionality;
- deliver applications;
- provide job alerts;
- operate Pass features;
- administer subscriptions and payments;
- communicate with users;
- respond to employers;
- prevent fraud and abuse;
- secure Solar Jobs Australia;
- diagnose technical problems;
- understand use of our service;
- improve the platform;
- comply with applicable legal obligations; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
4. Applications and employers
When you deliberately submit an application, you instruct Solar Jobs Australia to disclose the information forming part of that application to the employer or recruiter associated with the vacancy.
This may include your name, contact information, CV, professional information and application note.
Once received by an independent employer or recruiter, that recipient becomes responsible for its own handling of its copy.
5. CV storage
Candidate CV files are stored separately from the primary application database using Cloudflare R2.
The relevant R2 buckets are configured in the Western Europe (WEUR) region.
A CV may contain information voluntarily included by the candidate, including contact details, employment history, qualifications, licences and other employment-related information.
CV files are not intentionally made publicly accessible.
When you submit an application, your CV may be transmitted to the relevant employer or recruiter.
6. Application hosting and database
Solar Jobs Australia's production application infrastructure and database are hosted through Railway, configured in Singapore.
The database may contain account information, candidate profiles, applications, consent records, alerts, subscription information, recruiter information, employer enquiries and technical records.
7. Payments
Payments and recurring subscriptions are processed through Stripe.
Information transmitted to Stripe may include your email address, subscription identifiers, amount, transaction information and information associated with cancellation.
Payment-card details are provided directly to Stripe and are not intended to be stored by Solar Jobs Australia.
Stripe may process information through infrastructure outside Australia, including in the United States and through its global infrastructure.
8. Email delivery
We use or may use a specialist email-delivery provider to send account verification, password-reset, job-alert, application and other service communications.
Information transmitted to that provider may include:
- recipient email address;
- recipient name;
- message contents;
- secure links or tokens; and
- where an application is being delivered, the candidate's CV.
Our production email provider may process information outside Australia.
We will update this Policy where necessary if the provider or processing arrangements materially change.
9. Cloudflare
We use Cloudflare R2 to store CV files and to serve certain website images and employer logos.
When content is delivered through Cloudflare's network, Cloudflare may receive ordinary network information such as IP address, browser information, referring page and timestamp.
Cloudflare operates a global network.
10. Google Maps
Some pages may use Google Maps to display projects or job locations.
When a page containing an enabled Google Maps integration is loaded, the visitor's browser may communicate directly with Google.
Google may receive information such as IP address, browser information, referring page and map/location requests and may use cookies or similar storage according to its own practices.
Google operates infrastructure globally, including in the United States.
11. Hosting and international processing
Solar Jobs Australia uses service providers located in different regions.
In particular:
- our application infrastructure and database are configured through Railway in Singapore;
- candidate CVs are stored through Cloudflare R2 in Western Europe (WEUR);
- Cloudflare operates a global delivery network;
- Stripe may process information in the United States and other locations;
- Google operates global infrastructure, including in the United States;
- our email provider may process information outside Australia; and
- other infrastructure providers may process ordinary network and technical information where required to provide their services.
Where Australian privacy law applies to an overseas disclosure of personal information, we take reasonable steps in relation to that disclosure as required by applicable law.
12. First-party analytics
Solar Jobs Australia uses first-party measurement technology to understand use of our service.
Our current analytics implementation does not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, Segment or Mixpanel.
Our first-party analytics does not currently retain the visitor's IP address as an analytics identifier.
An anonymous browser identifier may be stored locally to distinguish visits and sessions.
We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand service performance and improve Solar Jobs Australia.
13. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Passwords are stored using secure one-way hashing rather than as plain-text passwords.
CV files are stored separately from the primary database.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
14. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it is held, or where retention is required or permitted by applicable law.
Candidate account and profile information is ordinarily retained while the account remains active.
When an account is deleted, information that is no longer required is deleted or de-identified within our systems, subject to applicable legal, financial, fraud-prevention, security and dispute-related retention requirements.
CV files held solely for an account are deleted when no longer required.
Employer enquiry information may be retained for up to 24 months after the last substantive interaction, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary because of an ongoing relationship, legal obligation, dispute or security requirement.
Financial and transaction records may be retained for the period required by applicable accounting, taxation or other laws.
Application-delivery records may be retained where reasonably necessary to demonstrate that a candidate requested and completed a particular application.
Information already transmitted to an independent employer, recruiter or service provider may remain subject to that recipient's own retention obligations.
15. Access and correction
You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct inaccurate information, subject to applicable law.
Information available through your account may be updated directly where functionality is provided.

16. Account deletion
You may delete your account using the functionality available through Solar Jobs Australia.
Deletion does not necessarily remove:
- information already transmitted to an independent employer or recruiter;
- records an independent service provider must retain;
- financial records we are legally required to retain;
- limited security or fraud-prevention records; or
- information reasonably required for an existing legal dispute.
A cancellation reason previously transmitted to our payment provider may remain within that provider's systems according to its own retention obligations.
17. Electronic communications
We may send communications necessary to administer accounts, applications, security and subscriptions.
We may also send job alerts and other employment-related communications where permitted by applicable law.
Where required, applicable commercial messages provide a means of unsubscribing.
